Hand rejuvenation in Medellín

Hand rejuvenation addresses what makes hands look older: volume loss on the back of the hand, thin skin, visible veins and tendons, sun spots and fine wrinkles. Each change has its own treatment, and they are often combined.

Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya, physician and surgeon from the University of Antioquia, assesses your hands and designs a progressive plan with biostimulators such as Radiesse®, medical peels and laser, so they look cared for and in harmony with your face.

The treatment

Why do hands age, and how are they rejuvenated?

Hands are among the areas that most reveal the passage of time. Over the years, the back of the hand loses fat and collagen, the skin thins and is exposed to the sun every day. That is why veins and tendons become more visible, spots appear and the skin looks more wrinkled and dry. During menopause these changes tend to speed up.

Depending on what is most noticeable in your hands, we choose:

  • Volume and thin skin: collagen biostimulators such as Radiesse®, the first product approved by the FDA specifically for the back of the hands (2015).
  • Sun spots: medical peels, laser and at-home depigmenting products.
  • Fine wrinkles and texture: Alma Hybrid™ CO2 laser or microneedling.
  • Protection: daily sunscreen on your hands, without which the spots come back.

The result is progressive and natural: hands that match the freshness of your face.

Is hand rejuvenation right for you?

It's for you if…

  • You feel your hands look older than your face.
  • You notice more visible veins and tendons.
  • The skin on the back of your hands looks thin, wrinkled or dry.
  • You have sun spots you'd like to improve.

It's not the right time if…

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have wounds or infections on your hands.
Treatment goals

What can be improved in the hands?

Each plan is defined at the assessment, based on the quality of your skin and what concerns you most about your hands.

01

Volume loss and thin skin

Over the years, the back of the hand loses fat and collagen. A biostimulator such as Radiesse® gradually restores support and thickness to the skin.

02

Visible veins and tendons

As support is restored, veins and tendons become less noticeable, without erasing them or changing the shape of your hand.

03

Sun spots

Sun spots and uneven tone, treated with medical peels, laser and at-home depigmenting products.

04

Fine wrinkles and texture

Wrinkled skin or uneven texture, which improves with CO2 laser or microneedling, depending on your skin.

05

Dry, dull skin

Hydration and skin quality to restore softness and radiance to the back of the hand.

06

Harmony with your face

So your hands look as cared for as your face and neck, with a plan that brings them together.

Our approach

Hands that match your freshness

We often take care of our face and forget our hands, which we use the most and expose most to the sun. Caring for them is part of a holistic, consistent approach to beauty.

Dr. Olga Gómez offers you a realistic, progressive plan, with conservative amounts and original INVIMA-registered products (INVIMA is Colombia's health products regulator), and follows up with you to look after the result over time.

After treatment

  • Sunscreen on your hands every day.
  • The moisturizer recommended by the doctor.
  • Avoid intense heat and strenuous use of your hands for the first few days.
  • Massage only if the doctor tells you to.

“When you leave here, you don't leave different: you leave more confident, calmer, more you.” — Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about hand rejuvenation

How can hands be rejuvenated?

It depends on what is most noticeable. If the back of the hand has lost volume and the skin is thin, a collagen biostimulator such as Radiesse® gradually restores support and thickness. Spots are treated with medical peels, laser and depigmenting products. Fine wrinkles and texture are treated with CO2 laser or microneedling. These are often combined, always with daily sunscreen.

Why do hands look older?

Because the back of the hand loses fat and collagen over the years, the skin thins and gets a lot of sun. That is why veins and tendons become more visible, spots appear and the skin looks more wrinkled. During menopause these changes tend to speed up.

What is Radiesse for the hands?

Radiesse® is a calcium hydroxylapatite biostimulator. In 2015 the US FDA approved it to correct volume loss on the back of the hands, making it the first product approved specifically for that area. It provides support from the start and stimulates your own collagen over the following months. Learn more on our Radiesse page.

Is hyaluronic acid used in the hands?

There are hyaluronic acid fillers indicated for the back of the hands, but they are not always the first choice. When, in addition to volume, skin thickness and quality need to improve, a biostimulator is usually preferred. The choice is made at your assessment, based on your skin and what you are looking for.

What can be done about spots on the hands?

First, confirm at your assessment that they are sun spots and not another lesion that a dermatologist should examine. Then they are treated with medical peels, laser and at-home depigmenting products. Without daily sunscreen on your hands, the spots come back, which is why it is part of the treatment.

Do the veins on the hands disappear?

They don't disappear, and they shouldn't: they are normal. What we aim for is to make them less noticeable by restoring support to the back of the hand, with a natural result.

Does it look natural?

Yes. The goal is not to fill the hand, but to restore support and skin quality so it looks more cared for and in harmony with your face. We work with conservative amounts and progressively.

Does it hurt? Can I use my hands afterward?

We use topical anesthesia, and most patients describe it as mild discomfort. You can return to your activities the same day; there may be mild swelling or temporary bruising for 2 to 3 days, and we give you aftercare instructions.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

With a biostimulator, the support is noticeable early on and skin quality keeps improving for 2 to 3 months as collagen forms. Duration varies by product and by person, so we don't promise an exact timeframe. With maintenance and sun protection, the result lasts better.

Can I combine it with facial treatments?

Yes, and it is often ideal so that your face, neck and hands look in harmony. We plan it in stages at your assessment.

Who should not have this treatment?

It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with infections or wounds on the hands, with some active autoimmune diseases or with an allergy to the product's components. That is why a prior medical assessment is essential.
