At our practice we use the Alma Hybrid™, which combines CO2 with a 1570 nm non-ablative laser so the intensity can be adjusted to each skin.
Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya, physician and surgeon from the University of Antioquia, sets the parameters according to your skin phototype and your goal, taking special care with olive and brown skin.

Alma Hybrid™ CO2 Laser · Medical judgment · El Poblado
The CO2 laser creates micro-columns of treatment in the skin. To repair them, the skin renews itself and produces new collagen. Because healthy skin is left between the columns, recovery takes days rather than weeks.
The Alma Hybrid adds a second, 1570 nm laser that works deeper without lifting the surface. Combining the two allows a lighter or stronger treatment depending on your skin: gentler for radiance and texture, deeper for scars.

One of its main indications, almost always combined with SkinPen® microneedling in a staged plan. See acne scars.
Renews the skin's surface and improves uneven texture and the appearance of pores. See skin quality.
Softens fine lines around the eyes and perioral lines, the so-called "barcode" lines, with settings adjusted to each area.
Stimulates collagen in red and white stretch marks, as part of a combined plan. See stretch marks.
Improves texture and fine lines on thinner, more sensitive skin. See neck and décolletage.
It can help with sun damage and uneven tone. In melasma it is used with great caution, or not at all. See dark spots and melasma.
With lasers, intensity is not what matters most: choosing it well is. Many of the dark spots that appear after a laser treatment are due to poorly prepared skin, excessive settings or too little sunscreen.
That's why, before any session, we review your phototype and your history of pigmentation, prepare the skin when needed and adjust the ratio between the CO2 and the 1570 nm laser. And if another technique, such as microneedling with SkinPen®, would serve you better, we'll tell you.
"With lasers, the right intensity is the one your skin can recover from well." — Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya
The doctor examines your skin, your phototype, whether you have melasma or a tendency to pigmentation, and your medications. She decides whether the laser is right for you and at what intensity.
Depending on your skin, we prepare it a few weeks ahead with active ingredients and sunscreen. On the day of the laser, topical anesthesia is applied.
The device combines the CO2 and the 1570 nm laser in the proportion your skin needs. You'll feel heat and tolerable pinpricks.
The skin turns red and then peels for 3 to 7 days. We give you written aftercare instructions and check on your progress.

It is a medical laser that creates thousands of micro-columns of treatment in the skin, leaving healthy skin between them. This way the skin renews itself and produces new collagen, and it recovers faster than with a traditional CO2 laser, which treated the entire surface.
It combines two lasers in a single pulse: the 10,600 nm CO2, which renews the surface, and a 1570 nm non-ablative laser, which works deeper without lifting the skin. The physician adjusts the ratio between the two according to your skin and what you want to improve.
For acne scars, uneven texture, pores, fine lines, lines around the mouth, stretch marks and sun damage. It is almost always part of a plan that combines other techniques, such as microneedling.
Yes, with sound judgment. Olive and brown skin has a higher risk of dark spots after laser treatment, so we prepare the skin beforehand, use more conservative settings and are strict about sunscreen. With the Alma Hybrid the intensity can be adjusted to reduce that risk.
It depends on the intensity. Typically there is redness and a feeling of heat on the first day, followed by fine peeling for 3 to 7 days. You should avoid sun and makeup for the first few days and follow the written aftercare instructions we give you.
With topical anesthesia you feel heat and tolerable pinpricks. Afterwards, the skin stings like after a sunburn, and that sensation eases within a few hours.
For texture and fine lines, one session is sometimes enough; acne scars usually need 2 to 4, spaced 1 to 3 months apart. The skin looks more even within weeks, but new collagen forms over months, so the result is progressive.
It is not a treatment for melasma, and in some skin types it can make it worse. Melasma is first controlled with other treatments, and the laser is considered only in selected cases and with great caution.
It is not recommended during pregnancy, with active inflamed acne, herpes or infections in the area, with tanned skin, or if you are taking or have recently taken isotretinoin. Nor if you have a tendency to keloids without a prior evaluation.
It depends on the area, the intensity and the number of sessions your skin needs. At your assessment in El Poblado we explain the plan and its investment clearly. Message us EVALUATE.
The first step is an assessment. Dr. Olga examines your skin and tells you whether the CO2 laser is right for you, at what intensity and how many sessions you would need.
