Go to the shopThread lifts use resorbable medical threads that provide support and stimulate your own collagen to improve firmness on the face, neck, abdomen and buttocks without surgery. We use APTOS threads: smooth PDO threads for skin quality and barbed threads for moderate repositioning.
Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya, physician and surgeon from the University of Antioquia, tells you honestly what they can achieve in your case, what their risks are and when another option would serve you better.

They are very fine threads placed under the skin with a needle or cannula, with no incisions. They work in two ways:

It's not the best option if…
At our practice we use them on the face, neck, abdomen and buttocks. Tap each area to see the page that explains it in detail.
Barbed threads moderately reposition the midface and the jawline. See non-surgical treatment for facial laxity.
Smooth threads improve the firmness and quality of the neck skin; barbed threads help define the angle under the chin. See neck and décolletage and double chin.
Smooth PDO threads, placed in a mesh pattern, stimulate collagen and give denser, firmer skin without changing your features.
They improve the firmness of the abdominal skin, for example after pregnancy or weight loss, as part of a plan. See body treatments.
They help with the firmness and texture of the skin on the buttocks. They don't increase volume. See non-surgical buttock treatments.
They almost always perform better alongside biostimulators, HIFU or botulinum toxin, in a staged plan.
They can: improve skin firmness and quality, provide moderate repositioning of the jawline, neck or cheek, and support a plan with other treatments.
They can't: give the result of a surgical facelift, lift skin that has descended significantly, or increase the volume of the buttocks.
That's why we don't offer them to everyone. If a biostimulator, HIFU or surgery would serve you better, we'll tell you.
"A good thread isn't noticeable: what you notice is firmer skin." — Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya
The doctor evaluates the degree of laxity, the thickness of your skin and your expectations, and tells you whether threads are right for you or whether another technique would serve you better.
The type of thread (smooth or barbed), the quantity and the vectors are chosen. We show you the authentic product and its INVIMA (Colombia's health products regulator) registration.
Under local anesthesia, the threads are inserted with a very fine needle or cannula, with no incisions. It takes about 45 to 60 minutes.
We give you written aftercare instructions and check on your progress. Collagen continues to form over the following months.
They are very fine, resorbable medical threads placed under the skin with a needle or cannula. They provide support and stimulate collagen production to improve firmness without surgery. At our practice we use APTOS threads.
Smooth threads, or mono threads, made of polydioxanone (PDO), don't lift: they are placed in a mesh pattern to stimulate collagen and improve skin firmness and quality. Barbed threads, which we call Forte at our practice, have tiny barbs that anchor into the tissue and allow it to be repositioned moderately.
Polydioxanone is a material that has been used for decades in surgical sutures. The body reabsorbs it completely over time, and as it does so it stimulates collagen formation around the thread.
No. Threads provide moderate repositioning and improve firmness. When the skin has descended significantly, a surgical facelift gives a result that threads cannot, and at your assessment we'll tell you so honestly.
The most common are swelling, bruising, pain when opening the mouth or making facial expressions for a few days, and small irregularities or dimpling that usually improve on their own. Less frequently, there may be asymmetry, a thread that becomes visible or comes out through the skin, or an infection. That's why they must be placed by a physician, with authentic materials and sterile technique.
The lifting effect is moderate and temporary, it doesn't replace surgery, and it isn't suitable for very thin skin or significant laxity. In addition, discomfort or irregularities may be noticeable during the first few days. That's why choosing the right candidates is key.
The thread is reabsorbed over the following months, but the collagen it stimulates lasts longer. How long the result lasts depends on the type of thread, the area, your skin and your habits. At your assessment we'll tell you what to expect in your case.
Yes. On the abdomen and buttocks they are used mainly to improve skin firmness and texture. They don't increase buttock volume or replace a tummy tuck. They are recommended after an assessment, sometimes together with biostimulators.
It is done under local anesthesia, so you feel pressure and mild discomfort. Afterwards there may be swelling, bruising and tenderness for a few days. For a few weeks it's best to avoid exaggerated facial expressions, massaging the area and intense exercise, as instructed.
It depends on the area, the type of thread and the quantity your case requires. At your assessment in El Poblado we explain the plan and its investment clearly. Message us CANDIDATE.
The first step is an assessment. Dr. Olga tells you whether you're a candidate for a thread lift, which type and what you can expect.
