Go to the shopDarkening of the underarms, groin and intimate area is very common and almost always has a cause that can be corrected: friction, hair removal, irritating products or hormonal changes. Medical depigmentation aims to even out skin tone safely, without bleaching or irritating the skin.
Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya, physician and surgeon from the University of Antioquia, first understands why the skin darkened and then designs a gentle, progressive plan for you.

The skin of the underarms, groin and intimate area is thin and exposed to friction, moisture and hair removal. Each time it becomes inflamed, it produces more pigment, and over time it looks darker. This is called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Depigmentation works on two fronts: controlling the cause and reducing excess pigment with products and techniques that are safe for sensitive areas.
It's for you if…
It's not the right time if…
Each area has its own sensitivity. We choose the product and technique according to the skin and the cause.
The most requested area. Friction, hair removal and some deodorants inflame the skin and darken it over time.
Thigh friction and tight clothing promote darkening. It is treated with products designed for sensitive skin, such as Dermamelan® Intimate or Meline®.
Only the external skin, never the mucous membranes. We use products created for this area, such as Meline® Intimate and Dermamelan® Intimate, under medical supervision.
Neck, folds under the bust or on the abdomen. When the darkening has a velvety texture, insulin resistance should be ruled out.
Repeated pressure and friction thicken and darken the skin. They improve with gentle exfoliation and moisturizing, in addition to the medical plan.
If you also have dark spots on your face, the plan is different. See dark spots and melasma.
In these areas, stronger is not better. An aggressive product irritates the skin, and irritated skin gets darker. That is why we work with appropriate concentrations, in stages and with follow-up.
We also tell you the truth: if the cause is metabolic or hormonal, treating only the skin is not enough. If you also have dark spots on your face, or you are interested in a peel or another body treatment, we bring it all together in a single plan.
“It's not about bleaching the skin, but about restoring an even, healthy tone.” — Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya
Dr. Gómez reviews the area, your skin type and your habits (hair removal, deodorant, clothing), and looks for the cause of the darkening.
We adjust whatever keeps the skin inflamed: hair-removal method, irritating products or friction. If needed, we guide you to look into the metabolic side.
Depending on your case: professional in-office depigmentation with Meline® or Dermamelan® and at-home care with Sesderma® depigmenting products, in stages.
We review your progress and make adjustments. The lightening lasts better when the factors that caused it are kept in check.
The most common causes are friction, repeated hair removal with a razor or wax, some irritating deodorants or perfumes and skin inflammation, which leaves more pigment behind. Skin type, hormonal changes and, in some cases, insulin resistance also play a role. It is very common and has nothing to do with hygiene.
First, remove whatever irritates the skin: change your hair-removal method, use alcohol-free and fragrance-free deodorants and avoid friction. Then, a medical plan with professional in-office depigmentation, such as Meline®, and at-home care with suitable depigmenting products, such as those from Sesderma®. The lightening is progressive.
With products designed for sensitive skin, on the external skin and never on the mucous membranes, and under medical supervision. The intimate area gets irritated easily, and irritation can make it darker. That is why it's not a good idea to use creams or homemade mixtures without an assessment.
It is the set of treatments that aim to reduce excess pigment (melanin) in an area of the skin. This is achieved by decreasing pigment production, renewing the surface layer of the skin and controlling the cause. It does not aim to bleach the skin, but to even out the tone.
We don't recommend them. Lemon, baking soda, vinegar or hydrogen peroxide irritate the skin, and irritation produces more pigment. In addition, lemon combined with sun exposure can cause burns and dark spots. Home remedies usually make the problem worse.
Only with a medical prescription and supervision, at a defined concentration and for a defined period. Prolonged or unsupervised use can cause irritation and even ochronosis, a darkening that is difficult to treat. It is also unwise to use creams without INVIMA registration (INVIMA is Colombia's health products regulator), which may contain undeclared ingredients.
Sometimes. When the skin of the underarms, neck or body folds looks dark and velvety, it may be acanthosis nigricans, which is associated with insulin resistance. In that case, in addition to treating the skin, it's a good idea to look into the metabolic side with your doctor.
It depends on the product, the cause and your skin type. With Meline®, several sessions a few weeks apart are usually indicated. With Dermamelan® Intimate there is one in-office application followed by a gel you use at home for as long as we tell you. The first changes are noticeable within weeks, and the improvement builds with consistency.
We use Meline® (Innoaesthetics), a professional depigmentation system with a version specifically for the intimate area; Dermamelan® Intimate (Mesoestetic), for the external intimate area, inner thighs and groin, with an in-office phase and an at-home phase; and Sesderma® depigmenting products for daily care. We choose based on your skin, the area and the cause. The darkening can come back if the friction or irritation continues, which is why the plan includes correcting the cause.
