Collagen Stimulators in Medellín

Collagen stimulators (biostimulators) are injectables that prompt your skin to produce its own collagen, rather than simply adding volume. They gradually improve firmness, support and skin quality. We work with Sculptra®, Radiesse®, HArmonyCa®, Juvelook® and Karisma®, and choose the right one for your skin and your goals.

Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya, a physician and surgeon trained at the University of Antioquia, uses them to support you through the passage of time with natural-looking results, without changing who you are.

What they are

What are collagen stimulators and how do they work?

Over the years, and especially during menopause, the skin produces less collagen: it becomes thinner, loses firmness and the face loses support. A biostimulator is injected into or beneath the skin and activates fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen.

There are three main families:

  • Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) (Sculptra®): gradual collagen, no immediate volume.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) (Radiesse®, Facetem®): support from the start and collagen over time.
  • Hybrids with hyaluronic acid (HArmonyCa®, Juvelook®): combine an immediate effect with biostimulation.

During your medical assessment we decide which one is right for you, or whether none of them is.

This is for you if…

  • You notice your skin is less firm or tending to sag.
  • You feel the contour of your face has lost definition.
  • Your skin changed after menopause or significant weight loss, including with medications such as Ozempic®.
  • You want to look fresh and rested without adding volume or looking “overfilled.”
  • You're looking for a progressive, natural result that still looks like you.

It's not the right time if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active infection in the area, or if you're looking for an immediate, dramatic change.

Products

Which collagen stimulators do we use?

We choose the biostimulator based on your skin, the area and the type of laxity. They don't all do the same thing.

01

Sculptra® · poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)

Stimulates collagen gradually. Useful for laxity and loss of support, including during menopause. Results become visible over 2 to 3 months. See Sculptra in Medellín.

02

Radiesse® and Facetem® · calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Provide immediate support and stimulate collagen over time. When diluted, they improve the firmness of the neck, décolletage and body. See Radiesse in Medellín.

03

HArmonyCa® · hyaluronic acid + calcium hydroxylapatite

Combines an immediate support effect with progressive biostimulation in a single treatment. It is newer, and the evidence behind it is still being built.

04

Juvelook® Soft · poly-D,L-lactic acid + hyaluronic acid

Applied superficially to improve texture, pores, fine scars and radiance. It's the biostimulator we use around the eyes.

05

Juvelook® Volume · poly-D,L-lactic acid

Larger particles placed deeper to provide gradual support in areas that have lost firmness.

06

Karisma® · recombinant collagen + hyaluronic acid

Gradually improves skin quality, hydration and firmness without adding volume.

Realistic expectations

What can collagen stimulators achieve, and what can't they?

What we can improve

  • Skin firmness and density.
  • Facial support and contour definition.
  • Skin quality during menopause or after weight loss.
  • The skin of the neck, décolletage, hands and body.

What we don't promise

  • The result of a surgical facelift.
  • An immediate change with every product: collagen takes weeks.
  • Volume like that of a filler or an implant.
  • A permanent effect: collagen continues to be lost over the years.

Collagen stimulators: experience in service of a natural look

Dr. Olga Gómez Montoya is a physician and surgeon trained at the University of Antioquia, with a practice dedicated to aesthetic medicine in El Poblado, Medellín. She has performed more than 8,500 botulinum toxin, biostimulator and lip harmonization treatments, and more than 4,800 aesthetic technology procedures.

With collagen stimulators, we don't aim to change your features. We aim to give your skin support and quality, including during stages such as menopause, with an honest, progressive plan that respects your expression. We only use INVIMA-registered products from verified sources.

Step by step

What does collagen stimulator treatment look like, step by step?

Medical assessment

We review your skin, your facial structure, your medical history and what you want to achieve before recommending any procedure. If it's not right for you, we'll tell you. The assessment takes 30 to 45 minutes.

A plan tailored to you

We choose the right biostimulator (Sculptra®, Radiesse®, Juvelook® or another) and determine how many sessions you might need. Usually 2 to 3, spaced weeks apart, because collagen builds up gradually.

Treatment

Before we begin, we show you the product and its INVIMA registration. It's a 45- to 60-minute outpatient procedure with mild discomfort. You can return to your routine in 1 to 2 days, and we give you clear at-home care instructions, such as the massages some products require.

Follow-up

Results appear gradually and are usually visible within 2 to 3 months. We schedule two follow-up visits, at 15 and 30 days, to review your progress and adjust the plan. After that, maintenance is usually one session every two years, depending on your skin and your goals.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about collagen stimulators

What are collagen stimulators?

They are injectable treatments that prompt your skin to produce its own collagen. Instead of filling a specific spot, they gradually improve skin firmness, support and quality. The most widely used are poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra®), calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse®) and hybrids with hyaluronic acid, such as HArmonyCa® or Juvelook®.

Biostimulator or filler: what's the difference?

A hyaluronic acid filler provides immediate volume or definition in a specific spot. A biostimulator works on structure: it stimulates new collagen, and the result appears gradually. They are often combined.

Which biostimulator is best for me: Sculptra, Radiesse, HArmonyCa or Juvelook?

There isn't one that's best for everyone. Sculptra® stimulates collagen gradually and has a long track record; Radiesse® provides immediate support plus biostimulation; HArmonyCa® combines hyaluronic acid and hydroxylapatite; Juvelook® works on skin quality and texture. We choose based on your skin, the area and what you want to achieve.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

It depends on the biostimulator. With poly-L-lactic acid, the first changes are usually noticeable between the fourth and sixth week, and the result keeps building over the following 2 to 3 months. With calcium hydroxylapatite there is support from the start, which improves as your skin produces collagen. The effect lasts a long time and is usually maintained with one session every one to two years.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends on your skin, the degree of laxity and what you want to achieve. Typically it's 2 to 3 sessions at first, followed by maintenance. During your consultation, we'll define together the plan that best fits your needs and your budget.

Does it hurt? What aftercare is needed?

Discomfort is usually mild, and you return to your routine in 1 to 2 days. Temporary swelling or bruising may occur. Some products require at-home massages, which we'll teach you. We schedule follow-up visits at 15 and 30 days.

What side effects can they have?

The most common are swelling, bruising and tenderness for a few days. With poly-L-lactic acid, small papules or nodules may appear, which can almost always be felt more than seen; we minimize them with the right technique, dilution and massage. That's why we don't use them in the lips and we carefully choose the product for each area.

Do collagen stimulators work during menopause?

Yes, they are often a good option. Menopause speeds up the natural loss of collagen, and the skin becomes thinner and less firm. Collagen stimulators help your skin gradually produce new collagen. Whether they're right for you is confirmed during your medical assessment.

Are collagen stimulators used on the body?

Yes. They are used to improve skin firmness on the arms, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, décolletage and hands, especially after weight loss or during menopause. They don't add volume the way an implant does. See non-surgical buttock treatments and hand rejuvenation.

Who should not have this treatment?

It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infections in the area, with an allergy to any of the components, with certain active autoimmune diseases, or with a tendency toward abnormal scarring, such as keloids. That's why a medical assessment is essential.

How much do collagen stimulators cost in Medellín?

The cost depends on the product, the area and the number of sessions you need. That's why we don't quote a one-size-fits-all price without assessing you first. At your consultation in El Poblado, we'll clearly explain your options and the investment involved. Book via WhatsApp.
