Hydrolipoclasis combines three steps:
It reduces localized fat deposits that don't budge with diet and exercise. It is not for weight loss, it does not tighten loose skin and it does not replace liposuction when the volume is larger.
It's for you if…
It's not the best option if…
The area is chosen based on where the fat accumulates and the firmness of your skin.
The most requested area. It works for localized fat, not for loose skin or for the separation of the muscles after pregnancy.
The “love handles” on the sides. Treating them together with the abdomen usually gives a more harmonious contour.
Fat around the bra line that doesn't budge with exercise. It is treated with careful attention to symmetry.
Fat on the back of the upper arm. If skin laxity predominates, another technique may serve you better.
Small fat deposits on the inner thigh. When there is cellulite, the plan is different. See cellulite.
If the skin is left with little firmness, it can be complemented with biostimulators or other body treatments.
Hydrolipoclasis has become very popular, and it is often offered without an assessment, without volume limits and in facilities that are not licensed. That is not medicine.
That is why I work with a full assessment, limited volumes and follow-up visits. And if your case needs liposuction, or if what you are looking for is firmness rather than less fat, I'll tell you and guide you to the option that will truly help you.

Under local anesthesia, a solution that prepares the tissue is infiltrated into the fat. The areas are marked before starting.
Ultrasound helps break down the fat cells and, with a very fine microcannula, the fat is extracted from the area in limited volumes.
You will wear a compression garment and we will give you written care instructions, including lymphatic drainage. We review your progress at follow-up visits.
It is a procedure to reduce localized fat. A solution with local anesthetic is infiltrated into the fat, ultrasound is applied to break down the fat cells and, in the microcannula technique, part of that fat is extracted through small openings. It is done on an outpatient basis and it is not a weight-loss treatment.
It is the technique in which, after infiltration and ultrasound, the fat is extracted with a very fine cannula. This removes fat directly, instead of waiting for the body to eliminate it on its own. It is done in limited volumes and under local anesthesia.
Microcannula hydrolipoclasis treats small fat deposits, under local anesthesia and in limited volumes. Liposuction is surgery, performed in an operating room, for larger volumes or several areas at once. If your case needs liposuction, we will tell you and refer you to a plastic surgeon.
A healthy person close to their ideal weight, with localized fat that doesn't budge with diet and exercise, good skin firmness and realistic expectations. It is not for obesity or for skin with significant laxity.
The most common effects are pain, swelling, bruising and altered sensation for a few days or weeks. Fluid buildup (seroma), irregularities, asymmetries or infection can also occur. Serious complications, such as organ perforation or thrombosis, are rare, but they do happen. That is why it must be performed by a trained physician, in a licensed medical office, after an assessment and with limited volumes.
It is normal to feel mild to moderate pain, and to have swelling, bruising and hardening of the area for a few weeks, as well as some fluid draining from the openings during the first few days. Seek care immediately if you have a fever, increasing pain, shortness of breath, redness or pain in one leg.
The fat cells that are removed don't grow back. But the remaining ones can grow if you gain weight, and fat can accumulate in other areas. Maintaining the result depends on diet, exercise and a stable weight.
You will wear a compression garment for as long as we tell you, and lymphatic drainage sessions are recommended. Most people return to light activities within a few days; intense exercise is resumed later, depending on your progress. The result becomes visible as the swelling goes down over the following weeks.
No. It is not a weight-loss treatment and it does not tighten the skin. If the skin is loose, removing fat can make it more noticeable. In that case we suggest other options, alone or combined.
It depends on the areas, the amount of fat and what your case needs. At your assessment in El Poblado we tell you whether you are a candidate and explain the plan and its investment clearly. Message us CANDIDATE.
